Distribution and Logistics Services

IU Surplus

The state of Indiana and IU policy require that all unneeded IU property be sent to IU Surplus. IU Surplus repurposes these items to other IU departments or oversees their sale, redistribution, or sustainable disposal, diverting as much as possible from the landfill.

Surplus is open to the campus community and the public. Items range from computers and office equipment to IU Athletics gear, art, and jewelry.

IU departments are reimbursed for items that sell for $200 or more, with an increasing percentage return based on sale price. Surplus also picks up e-waste items from IU regional campuses.

Todd Reid (tareid@iu.edu) manages IU Surplus and IU Warehouse.

IU Warehouse

The IU Warehouse provides affordable storage exclusively for IU departments, helping to free up valuable space on campus. Secure storage is available for such items as office and residence hall furnishings, files and equipment, theater sets, and items for university ceremonies.

Standard skid storage spaces (4' x 4' x 4') are just $5 per month—an IU insider price alternative to off-campus storage options.

Campus Mail Services

IU Campus Mail Services support academic, administrative, and service units and students with timely, cost-effective, and efficient mail delivery and related services.

Our Accountable Mail Couriers ensure appropriate movement of secure documents between offices and secure deposits to the IU Bursar and IU Foundation. A Campus Mail courier delivers IU Printing Services projects to IU Indy weekly from Tuesday through Friday.

Campus Mail saves money for the university by managing IU’s nonprofit bulk mail permit, which saves departments up to 80% on standard USPS postage, and processing outgoing letters and flats (12 by 15 inches, 13 ounces or less) that qualify for a discounted presorting rate. Bo Shipley (eshipley@iu.edu) manages IU Campus Mail Services.
